Gwent Ladies’ 1st team were due to represent Wales in the Eurohockey Challenge 3 competition in Zagreb in May 2020 but this was postponed due to the pandemic. The competition has been re-arranged to 23 – 26 September 2021 and we are delighted to announce that the flights and hotel are booked and we will be making the trip to Croatia!

A strong squad has been announced for the competition which is being hosted by Hockey Club Zelina. There is a real blend of experience & youth, with 5 of the squad aged U18.

Gwent will be hoping to do Wales proud and will be aiming to improve on a 5th place finish when they participated in the same competition in Prague in 2015. Captain Rosie Davey said; ‘we are excited to finally be making the trip to Zagreb and are looking forward to representing Wales and testing ourselves against teams from Croatia, Turkey & Luxembourg’.

Preparation will include a programme of top level matches and regular training sessions to ensure that the squad is in top condition for a gruelling 4 games in 4 days!
